Matthew Roy Blunt (born November 20, 1970) is an American politician and former naval officer who served as the 54th governor of Missouri from 2005 to 2009. He previously served ten years in the United States Navy and as Missouri secretary of state .

Governor Matt Blunt is President of the American Automotive Policy Council, a trade association representing the common public policy and trade interests of FCA US LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company.
Blunt was elected governor in 2004. As governor, he increased state funding for Missouri’s public schools by nearly a third of a billion dollars and secured a significant $20 million increase in state support for Missouri’s two and four year higher education institutions.
