Bellahouston Academy is a non-denominational state-run secondary school in Bellahouston, south-west Glasgow, Scotland.
21 feb 2024 · Bellahouston Academy is at the heart of a vibrant and diverse community with the secondary school first being opened in 1876 as a private school run by Alexander Sim. The school was then taken over by the Govan School Board nine years later, and has since been a state school since with the buildings having recently undergone refurbishment.

Bellahouston Academy was established in 1876 by Alexander Sim as shareholder and first rector. He was regarded as being ahead of his time in his provision of educational facilities. Originally built as a private school, it was not a financial success and was eventually taken over by Govan School Board in 1885.
Scotland's first school dedicated to sporting excellence, offering five sports specialisms and high performance coaching. Located in Glasgow, the school has pupils from 15 local authorities across Scotland and has achieved many medals at National and International level.
