He sang with Huey "Piano" Smith and the Clowns in the early 1950s and then with the Tick Tocks—significant R&B groups in New Orleans. Scarface and I hung out a lot at the Dew Drop Inn on LaSalle Street. One night in March 1972, he was stabbed trying to stop a fight in front of a club on Dryades Street.

22 feb 2023 · Huey "Piano" Smith, who died earlier this month, recorded many influential singles including "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu." He wrote the Freddie Ford hit "Sea Cruise."
