Oakdale Comprehensive School was a comprehensive school located in the village of Oakdale, Caerphilly Oakdale in Caerphilly county, Wales. The total enrollment was about 660 pupils aged 11 to 16. Sixth-form provision was at Coleg Gwent in Crosskeys and Ystrad Mynach College.
Our school is situated on the outskirts of the village of Oakdale on the road linking Pontllanfraith and Crumlin. It occupies an elevated site, overlooking the Sirhowy Valley and the town of Blackwood.
5 nov 2021 · The school buildings on the Oakdale site were cleared (at a cost of £776,777) and the site now looks set for a new housing development. Unlike other residential estates though, a private company will not be behind the plans.
Councillors on Caerphilly’s planning committee this week gave their unanimous approval to the redevelopment of the former Oakdale Comprehensive School site. Classrooms were demolished there after the school closed in 2017 and pupils moved to the new Islwyn High School, around a mile to the north.

Planning permission has already been granted for 82 homes on the former Oakdale Comprehensive School site. Now, the applicant Caerphilly Homes wants to reconfigure the layout of the proposed development to allow for a larger block of flats than previously agreed, planning officer Helen Winsall told the committee on Wednesday March 8.
