Wipers was a punk rock band formed in Portland, Oregon, in 1977 by guitarist and vocalist Greg Sage, along with drummer Sam Henry and bassist Dave Koupal.
Greg Sage (helped out by drummer Steve Plouf) resurrected the Wipers for Herd (Tim Kerr, 1996), that marked a devastating return to form with some of his most irresistible and catchies songs ( Psychic Vampire, The Herd, Resist ) and The Power In One (Zeno, 2000), an album that is as old-fashioned as understated.
30 dic 2019 · But Sage’s new deal with Restless would prove stable for six years and five albums. And LotL also introduced a new drummer, Steve Plouf, who remained by Sage’s side the final 13 years, the last 10 as the only other member, while Sage manned the bass himself. And what a corker it is!
The band then embarked on their first extensive tour, documented on the Wipers Tour 84 cassette-only live album, which was reissued by Enigma Records in 1985 as Wipers. In 1985, Naish was replaced by Steve Plouf, and Enigma issued Sage’s first solo album, Straight Ahead.
In 1993, joined solely by Steve Plouf on drums, Sage revived the Wipers, resurfacing with Silver Sail. They went on to release two more albums (1996's The Herd and 1999's The Power in One) before Sage decided to leave the music industry for good in 1999.
