UCLA Lab School is a laboratory elementary school serving 450 students ages 4 to 12 (PreK-6) in a diverse community. Our school is located on the campus of UCLA, one of the world’s leading research universities.
UCLA Lab School is the laboratory school of the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies. Located on UCLA's main Westwood campus since the 1950s, it currently serves 450 students ranging in ages from 4 to 12.

Directory. Contact Us. Employment. Environment as the Third Teacher. UCLA Lab School is located on six wooded acres at the edge of the UCLA campus. The multi-building complex is designed to engage students in learning, inspire their creativity and connect them to the natural world.
Admissions Dates. Fall 2024. Application for 2025-26 school year available online. December 2024. Deadline to submit an application for admission for the 2025-26 school year. January 2025.
Founded in 1882. Laboratory for research, teaching and public engagement. Non-graded elementary school. Equivalent to PreK through Grade 6. Single-age and multi-age groupings: Early Childhood I (ages 4–5) Early Childhood II (ages 5–6) Primary (ages 6–8) Intermediate (ages 8–10)
The UCLA Lab School curriculum is designed to engage children in deep thinking and collaborative problem-solving across the disciplines. Art, literacy, mathematics, music, science, social studies and life skills are taught through an inquiry-based approach.
