12 nov 2007 · As we drove into Austin, I remembered hearing about John’s album, A Year in the Wilderness that was released earlier this year, which included duets with three of the past two decades’ greatest female sirens—Aimee Mann, Kathleen Edwards and Jill Sobule.
Come suo solito John Doe mette insieme una sfilza di amici e colleghi (Dave Alvin, Greg Leisz, Chris Bruce, Dan Auerbach) senza rinunciare a qualche presenza femminile (Kathleen Edwards, Aimee Mann). Ci sono alcuni pezzi di buona fattura che però rimangono intrappolati in una scaletta media senza riuscire a fare la differenza.
