Val Fuentes (born November 25, 1947) is the original and current drummer for the folk and rock band It's a Beautiful Day. He has also played with Fat Chance, New Riders of the Purple Sage , Shadowfax, Lina Valentino, Linda Imperial, The Pure Pleasure Band, and The Moments.

The other members of It's a Beautiful Day in its early years were Val Fuentes (drums), Mitchell Holman (bass) and Hal Wagenet (guitar). Although they were one of the notable San Francisco bands to emerge from 1967's Summer of Love , the band never achieved the success of contemporaries such as the Grateful Dead , Jefferson Airplane , and Santana , with whom they had connections.
These included among others, guitarists Allen Kemp, Gary Vogensen, and Evan Morgan; bass players Fred Campbell, Bill Laymon, and Michael White; and drummers Val Fuentes, and Greg Lagardo. Some projects had the current line-up performing new material and others reworked older material.
