  4. 9 mar 2021 · Hodan Nalayeh was a Somali-Canadian journalist and Vaughan resident who worked to empower and give voice to women and youth, and the Somali community. We are proud to name a school after her and know that her life and legacy will inspire students, staff members and the community.

  5. 19 mag 2021 · The York Region District School Board voted to rename Vaughan Secondary School in honour of Hodan Nalayeh, who was killed by al Shabaab in Somalia in 2019. The renaming was a result of community advocacy and reflects the board's commitment to racial justice and eliminating anti-Black racism.
