Mainstream is the third and final studio album by Lloyd Cole and the Commotions. It was produced by Ian Stanley and released by Polydor Records in the UK and by Capitol Records in the US on 26 October 1987. It included the singles "My Bag", "Jennifer She Said" and "From the Hip".

Q – Was the track “Mainstream” ever released as a single anywhere in the world? I only ask because there is a video for it on your latest DVD and it was not a single in the UK. A – No. I wish. The video was made as an album promotional thing. My friend Michael Atavar made it using footage of us in rehearsal, as I recall.
Mainstream was the third and final album that British alt-pop craftsman Lloyd Cole made with his first band, The Commotions. Ironically, considering its title, it was also the least commercially successful, probably because it was Cole's least jangle-poppy release at the time.
