Produced by Jim Berrow, Ken Jones, and Alan Wallis, Tolkien Remembered recounts Tolkien's life as a creative writer, and features commentary and recollections by his four children, Christopher, John, Priscilla, and Michael. There is archival footage or audio included of Tolkien himself reading parts of his books, and of his brother, Hilary, and mother, Mabel.

Each contributor discusses the life and work of the author John Tolkien (J. R. R. Tolkien) who is best known as the writer of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. They touch on Tolkien's early life in Birmingham and his later life in Oxford. There is extensive use of archive stills.
