Russian State Social University (RSSU; Russian: Российский государственный социальный университет, abbreviated as РГСУ) was the first public university in the Russian Federation to offer undergraduate and graduate programmes in the field of social work.

Russian State Social University (RSSU) is a leading high educational institution in Russia, CIS and the Baltics in the sphere of social science. The University was founded in 1991 and was the first to launch the educational programmes in social work, social psychology and social pedagogics.
RSSU was the first University in Russia to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in Social Work, Social Youth Work, Social Insurance, Social Gerontology and Social Support for the Disabled. Since starting these programs, more than 400 000 social workers have graduated from the University.
