History. 1977–1984: The Frantic Elevators. Hucknall was in a punk group called The Frantic Elevators, whose seven-year run produced limited releases on local labels and ended in 1984 upon critical acclaim for their final single, "Holding Back the Years". [9] 1985–1988: Formation and early success.
History. The Frantic Elevators are most known for being the jumping-off point for a pre-Simply Red Mick Hucknall. In 1976, Audenshaw Grammar School pupil Adrian Whittleworth decided to form a band with fellow pupils Frank Ollerenshaw and Gary Hulston. this band was called Osiris.
In four years, the Frantic Elevators released four singles. A second single with TJM records was planned in 1979/80 but this was cancelled. A fifth single was planned in 1983, but this did not materialise. Though the Frantic Elevators did not release any albums, their music has appeared on numerous compilation albums.
