Archive television and online video footage shows the progression of Ballymun from a symbol of progress to an emblem of social disadvantage. In this way it aligns itself with a community film ethos, by providing a social, economic and political context for the deprivation experienced in this community.
Ron's ambition is to create a 'world class' collection of music for his talented students to play and write lyrics for. This music will challenge the negative views many still hold of the area - views that have the potential to hold his students back, and undermine the aims of the Ballymun Music Programme.
Ballymun Lullaby is an emotional and compelling documentary that explores the heart of a local community through music. The Ballymun housing estate in Dublin has a reputation for failure. Six of its seven highrise towers have been demolished.
