ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) is among the most prestigious universities in the country and provides an exceptional variety of Programmes, covering a wide range of study areas at all levels of higher education.
ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa is a Portuguese public tertiary education institution. It is located in the city centre of Lisbon, in Cidade Universitária, adjoining the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) and Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT) of the University of Lisbon.
The Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon was founded in 1972 as one of Portugal’s first modern universities, with the central aim of studying labour and social dynamics in a rapidly changing world.
Courses. Each semester, a large variety of courses (or curricular units) are taught in English; additionally, many Portuguese-taught courses have tutorials in English. Exchange students may select courses under the following conditions:
Studying in Lisbon gives students access to a rich history giving diverse and mesmerising architecture including two UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Belem Tower and Jeronimos Monastery, and breathing Moorish cultural influences.
An international candidate wishing to apply for an Iscte programme competes through a Special Competition, managed by Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon. In other words, the application is presented and analyzed by the Iscte, through the Candidature Analysis Commission of the undergraduate programme for which the candidate has applied.
