Cilla is a BBC TV programme hosted by British singer Cilla Black. It ran for eight series from 30 January 1968 to 17 April 1976. From series 3 onwards, the shows were produced and broadcast in colour. History. Then-British singing star Cilla Black was offered her own show on the BBC, to be eponymously called Cilla, by Bill Cotton in 1967.

The immediate success of the ‘Cilla’ series marked the beginning of a new phase of Cilla’s professional life as she was now one of Britain’s top-rated television entertainers. Her show regularly commanded staggering audience figures of between 18 and 22 million until it ended in 1976.
10 mag 2020 · Cilla - the TV series - debuted in January 1968. For the series Paul McCartney wrote the signature tune 'Step Inside Love', inviting the studio audience and the television watching public to "find a place where the cares of the day will be carried away by the smile on your face." It was the ideal opening number.
