George Charles of Hesse-Kassel (8 January 1691 – 5 March 1755) was a prince of Hesse-Kassel and a Prussian General. Life. George was the tenth and youngest son of the Landgrave Charles of Hesse-Kassel (1654-1730) from his marriage to Maria Amalia (1653-1711), the daughter of the Duke Jacob Kettler of Courland.

5 mar 2017 · In 1760 Mary’s father-in-law died and her husband became the Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel. The inheritance did nothing to change the dynamics of the marriage and the couple remained apart, though Mary took the title of “Landgravine” for the next 12 years.
Charles was born in Kassel in 1744 as the second surviving son of Hesse-Kassel’s then hereditary prince, the future Frederick II, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and his first wife, King George III’s sister Princess Mary of Great Britain.
