The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Czech: Akademie múzických umění v Praze, AMU) is a university in the centre of Prague, Czech Republic, specialising in the study of music, dance, drama, film, television and multi-media.
9 nov 2017 · The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (AMU) is a leading educational art institution in Central Europe. The university is divided into three independent faculties, each specialised in its own artistic endeavour: theatre ( DAMU ), film and TV ( FAMU ) and music and dance ( HAMU ).
Film and TV School of Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) is one of the three faculties of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU, FAMU, HAMU) and the fifth oldest film school in Europe.
The instruction is organised in the form of lectures, exercises and workshops. The standard programme duration is at least three and at most four years. Programmes are duly completed by passing a state final examination, part of which is the oral defence of the Bachelor’s thesis.
The Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) is the university of music, dance, drama, film, TV and multi-media studies. It was founded by the Presidential Decree of October 27, 1945. A year later, in the winter semester of 1946, it was opened for students.
Students seek to refine their specific abilities under the tuition of active professionals of the Czech cultural and intellectual scene, top ranking filmmakers, theatre dramaturges and stage performers, musical virtuosos and master dancers with an emphasis on a uniquely individual approach.
