Burkhard Jung (* 7. März 1958 in Siegen) ist ein deutscher Politiker ( SPD ). Er ist seit März 2006 der Oberbürgermeister von Leipzig. Er war von 2019 bis 2021 Präsident des Deutschen Städtetags und ist seit 2021 dessen Vizepräsident.
Der Oberbürgermeister wird in Direktwahl von den wahlberechtigten Bürgern der Stadt Leipzig gewählt. Seine Amtszeit beträgt sieben Jahre. Seit dem 29. März 2006 ist Burkhard Jung (SPD) Oberbürgermeister der Stadt Leipzig. Die letzte Wahl fand am 2. Februar (1. Wahlgang) und 1. März 2020 (2. Wahlgang) statt.

He succeeds the Mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, and is joined by the Mayor of Ghent, Mathias De Clercq, who will become the network’s Vice President.
