Ronald Edward Blair (born September 16, 1948 in San Diego, California) is an American musician notable for being the bassist for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He was originally the band's bassist [1] from 1976 to 1981.

Gli inizi e i primi due album
Le prime band alle quali Tom Petty prese parte furono i Sundowners, gli Epics e i Mudcrutch. Nel 1974, i Mudcrutch firmarono un contratto con la casa discografica Shelter Records e si trasferirono dalla loro città natale Gainsville (Florida) a Los Angeles, in California. Il successo
Nel 1979, risolta la controversia legale con la casa discografica, gli Heartbreakers pubblicano il loro terzo album, Damn the Torpedoes, con l'etichetta Backstreet, una sussidiaria di MCA.
