Emotion is a somewhat schizophrenic album in that there is no one consistent mood. Certain songs shoot for contemporary pop and R’n’B, others string drenched traditional ballads and even heartland rock and Meat Loaf. 4th track Best I Could Do is the first smoother ballad that harkens back to an earlier Barbra age.
