Zhu Changxun (1586–1641) was the third son of the Ming dynasty Wanli Emperor. His mother, Noble Consort Zheng, was a favoured concubine and, in efforts to please her, the emperor attempted to have Zhu made heir apparent, but failed to overturn the rule of primogeniture.
The Taichang Emperor (Chinese: 泰昌帝; pinyin: Tàichāng Dì; 28 August 1582 – 26 September 1620), personal name Zhu Changluo (Chinese: 朱常洛), was the 15th emperor of the Ming dynasty. He was the eldest son of the Wanli Emperor and succeeded his father as emperor in 1620.
Zhu Changluo, passò gran parte della sua vita nel palazzo imperiale dove lottò costantemente per il proprio diritto ad essere riconosciuto erede al trono imperiale. Il padre tuttavia preferì nominare come suo erede, Zhu Changxun, figlio della sua consorte preferita Lady Zheng.
In the 1580s and 1590s, he attempted to promote his third son, Zhu Changxun (the son of his favorite concubine, Lady Zheng), as crown prince, but faced strong opposition from officials. This led to ongoing conflicts between the emperor and his ministers for over fifteen years.
18 apr 2015 · Zhu Changluo, as he was called before becoming emperor, was born the first son of the Wanli Emperor in 1582. Wanli was fonder, however, of his third son, Changxun, and of Changxun's mother, the concubine Lady Zheng.
