Learn how to apply to Bury Grammar School, a high-achieving school in Greater Manchester. Find out about the admissions process, the school's academic standards, and the benefits of joining the school.
Bury Grammar School is a private day school in Bury, Greater Manchester, England, that has existed since c.1570. It is now part of a group of schools for preschool, junior, senior and sixth form studies.
Our Senior School is unique and offers the best of both worlds: Boys and girls are taught separately and benefit from tailored single sex pastoral care. Outside the classroom, girls and boys enjoy a coeducational extra-curricular programme and get to know each other.
Bury Grammar School was founded in 1570 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I by Reverend Henry Bury, a wealthy philanthropic clergyman who was committed to educating the people of Bury, Reverend Peter Shaw, the Rector of Bury, and Edward Stanley, the third Earl of Derby, who gave land on which the School was built.
