Sherborne Girls, formally known as Sherborne School for Girls, is an independent day and boarding school for girls, located in Sherborne, North Dorset, England. There were 485 pupils attending in 2019–2020, with more than 90 per cent of them living on campus in the seven boarding houses.
For girls aged 11-14, (Years 7 – 9), our focus is on academic exploration, investigation and instilling a love of learning. At GCSE (Years 10 -11), our curriculum provides a real opportunity for pupils to develop a range of skills and competencies as defined in our school values.
At Sherborne Girls, we believe that education forms our habits. It shapes our values and our beliefs, preparing us for the future and steering us on our way. That is why we are committed to providing an outstanding education to every girl in our community, helping her write the story of her life.
Sherborne Girls offers an excellent all-round education to its 480 girls, of whom 400 are full boarders making it a popular choice for families who want their daughters to have a 7-day a week boarding experience. Most students come from within the UK, with about 15% from overseas.
Sherborne Girls is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. Founded in 1899, it has been at the forefront of girls’ education in Britain for over 100 years.
Sherborne Girls and all-boys Sherborne School market themselves as ‘separate, yet together’ and parents reckon pupils get the best of both worlds here – lessons in a single-sex environment and co-curricular activities, music, sport, drama and social events with boys at Sherborne School.
