Saudades (Portuguese: "The Blues") is an album by Brazilian jazz percussionist Naná Vasconcelos recorded in March 1979 and released on ECM the following year. The ensemble features guitarist Egberto Gismonti backed by the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Mladen Gutesha. [1]

15 apr 2024 · Finding a starting point when it comes to Naná Vasconcelos 1979 ECM masterpiece is both difficult and blatantly obvious at the same time: because the album is heavily centered around the berimbau, a traditional folk instrument from Angola, but popularized in the Afro-Brazilian Capoeira, a form of martial arts but also a game that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, music and spirituality.
