Oliver Penrose (Colchester, 6 giugno 1929) è un fisico e matematico britannico, figlio del genetista Lionel Penrose e fratello del fisico Roger Penrose e del GM di scacchi Jonathan Penrose. Biografia. Si è laureato in fisica al University College di Londra ed ha conseguito un dottorato di ricerca al King's College di Cambridge.
Oliver Penrose FRS FRSE (born 6 June 1929) is a British theoretical physicist. He is the son of the scientist Lionel Penrose and brother of the mathematical physicist Roger Penrose, chess Grandmaster Jonathan Penrose, and geneticist Shirley Hodgson.
Olliver Penrose's studies included the mathematical treatment of models employed in statistical mechanics and the theory behind phase transformations, including the kinetics of phase transformations in metals. Aside from his passion for music, Oliver Penrose loved chess, as well, and displayed a solid amount of skill in that regard.
Oliver Penrose was a Professor of Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University from 1986 until his retirement in 1994. Before that he spent 17 years at the Open University. He is still active in research and now holds the title Professor Emeritus.
