Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy, more familiarly known as “Mather Academy,” was a private African American boarding school in Camden, South Carolina.
8 giu 2016 · Mather merged in 1959 with the struggling Boylan-Haven School of Jacksonville, Florida, and became Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy. The school remained in Camden, but amid declining enrollment and shrinking dollars it fell into disrepair.
A highly regarded school, Mather Academy's campus featured a main education building, library, chapel, dormitories and a gym. It merged with Boylan-Haven School of Jacksonville, Fla., in 1959. The academy closed its doors in 1983 and the last of its buildings was demolished in 1995.

The Methodists opened a “Model Home and Industrial School” on this site in 1887. In 1959 Mather merged with the Boylan-Haven School of Jacksonville, Fla. to become Boylan-Haven-Mather Academy. It closed here in 1983 and the last building was demolished in 1995.
