On 28th June 1972, the Command and Organizing Faculty in Vyškov was transformed into Military University of Ground Forces of Captain Otakar Jaroš. The command of the university was given to Colonel František Herodek. On 31st October 1972, Major-General Jozef Jurík took over the command.

His alma mater became the Military University of the Ground Forces Vyškov, specialization – Theory of Control and Combat Use of ground troops. He was placed in the position of the Commander of the 1st Tank Company of the 1st Tank Battalion in 1986 – 1988 and he became the Deputy Commander of the 18th Tank Regiment in 1993.
