Matt Lukin is a former musician originating from Aberdeen, Washington. He is best known for being a founding member of The Melvins and Mudhoney though his tenure in the former band lasted only four years.
Matt Lukin was the first Melvins bassist and a founding member of the band along with Buzz and Mike Dillard in 1983. He left the band in 1987, when Buzz and Dale moved to San Francisco. He remained in Washingon state and formed Mudhoney with former members of Green River.
15 nov 2013 · Guitarist Buzz Osborne, bassist Matt Lukin, and drummer Mike Dillard were the first Melvins. A lot has changed in that camp in those 30 years; Dillard left less than a year in, and Lukin would move on to a job with Mudhoney (to be replaced by a series of bassists).
The Pearl Jam song ‘Lukin’ is about how my kitchen’s a sanctuary for him. Also, I was giving him shit about all their songs being too long. That inspired him to make ‘Lukin’ a one-minute song.
