Roberto Isaac " Beto " de la Rocha (born November 26, 1937) is a Mexican-American painter, graphic artist, and muralist. He was part of the Chicano art collective Los Four for a few years. De la Rocha was also influential in re-establishing the traditional Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead in Los Angeles.

28 mar 2017 · In 1969, a group of Mexican American muralists — Frank Romero, Carlos Alvarez, Roberto de la Rocha, Gilbert Lujan — formed the art collective Los Four in Los Angeles. College educated and passionately convicted to their beliefs, Los Four was instrumental in introducing Chicano art to the mainstream in the 70s and 80s.

Times , the elder de la Rocha was part of a landmark Chicano art exhibition in the mid-'70s, but shortly afterward, he destroyed all his paintings and retreated from the art world for 20 years.
