Newstead Wood School (originally named Orpington Grammar School for Girls) opened in September 1954, in response to the rapid growth of Orpington and Petts Wood over the previous forty years. The first single form entry school was housed temporarily at Midfield Girls’ School.
A state school for girls in Orpington, Kent, with a co-ed sixth form. Outstanding in all areas, according to Ofsted, with a high-achieving curriculum and a supportive environment.
