Shadowfax was a new-age / electronic musical group formed in Chicago in the early 1970s and best known for their albums Shadowfax and Folksongs for a Nuclear Village. In 1989, they won the Grammy for Best New Age Performance for Folksongs for a Nuclear Village. [1]

20 apr 2010 · Phil’s bass is tight and yet full-bodied, and the ever-present percussion sparkles throughout each track. When I see someone dismiss this album as lacking any engagement or dynamics, I blame their reproduction of it, not the music.
After those two songs, the album reverts back to the new age groove (yawn), emphasizing Kenny G-like soprano sax. The worst offenders are the placid, oops, I mean flaccid songs written by bassist Phil Maggini. That he somehow convinced L Shankar to appear on one song, Tanah Lot, is a miracle (but it doesn't really help).

Shadowfax was a Grammy Award winning group which blended elements of world music, folk and jazz. Their later music was often categorized as new age. Shadowfax was formed in Chicago in 1972 as a blues band by saxophonist Chuck Greenberg, guitarist G.E. Stinson and bassist Phil Maggini.
