Ernő Dohnányi, conosciuto anche come Ernst von Dohnányi, è stato un direttore d'orchestra, compositore, pianista e didatta ungherese. Gli è stato assegnato il Premio Kossuth postumo nel 1990.
Ernst von Dohnányi (Hungarian: Dohnányi Ernő, [ˈɛrnøː ˈdohnaːɲi]; 27 July 1877 – 9 February 1960) was a Hungarian composer, pianist and conductor. He used the German form of his name on most published compositions.
Pianista e compositore, nato a Presburgo il 27 luglio 1877. Fu allievo di K. Forstner a Presburgo, e poi di varî maestri all'Accademia reale di Budapest. Fu insegnante di pianoforte all'Accademia reale di musica a Berlino ed è direttore della scuola superiore di musica a Pest.
Dohnányi Ernő 1877. július 27-én Pozsonyban született. A felvidéki család nevét először 1697 -ben említi hivatalos irat, amelyben I. Lipót nemesi címet adományozott Dohnányi Györgynek. Édesapja Dohnányi Frigyes, a Pozsonyi Királyi Katolikus Főgimnázium tanára volt, és erősen érdeklődött a művészetek iránt.
