Brenda Wehle was born in Washington, D.C. She is the third of six children of a career military officer and his wife. Because of his father's career, Wehle and her family moved frequently, living in 4 different countries, 5 states and attending 8 different schools. After high school, she attended Catholic University of America, where she completed a Bachelor's degree in French Literature, and a Master's degree in Speech and Drama.
After college, Wehle worked in numerous regional theaters across the country, including Seattle, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Santa Fe, and Hartford. In 1987, she moved to Minneapolis to join Garland Wright's Acting Company. After 10 years, Wehle moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. Since then, she has had roles on TV shows like Law & Order and Crossing Jordan (with Ravi Kapoor), as well as films like Soldier and American Beauty.
