Sonja Smits (born September 8, 1958) [1] is a Canadian actress. She was nominated for two Genie Awards: for Videodrome (1983) and That's My Baby! (1984). 19 apr 2012 · Sonja Smits, actor (b at Sudbury, Ont 13 April 1955). Sonja Smits was raised on a dairy farm in the Ottawa Valley, not far from Ottawa. As a teenager, she enrolled in the Ottawa Little Theatre and later studied at the theatre program at Ryerson in Toronto.
11 mag 2021 · After growing up on a dairy farm south of Ottawa, award-winning actress Sonja Smits, 62, has returned to the country. These days she lives mostly in Prince Edward County, Ont., near the Closson Chase winery that she and husband — Canadian film and TV producer Seaton McLean — founded more than twenty years ago.
Her feature films, include David Cronenberg's cult classic, "Videodrome" and "Owning Mahoney" with Philip Seymour Hoffman. Sonja has received numerous honours and awards for her work including a Gemini Award-Best Actress, TWFT- Outstanding Achievement Award and ACTRA Award of Excellence.
