Young Stribling. William Lawrence Stribling Jr. (December 26, 1904 – October 3, 1933), known as Young Stribling, was an American professional boxer who fought from Featherweight to Heavyweight. His 1931 fight against Max Schmelling for Schmeling's world heavyweight championship was named Ring Magazine fight of the year.

Stribling's final career bout. Later, while on a motorcycle going to visit his wife and their new-born child in the hospital, William L. Stribling died, after being hit by a car, in the very same hospital in which his last child had been born. Odell down four times in the bout before it was stopped.
16 lug 2022 · Stribling was one of the best high school basketball players in the United States. He was known as a "dead shot" (a very accurate shooter). His team went to the national interscholastic tournament at Chicago, but he was ruled ineligible to play because of his professional boxing.
Young Stribling knocked out 125 opponents, setting a record that only Archie Moore topped. Stribling failed to win a championship, but his career was still going strong when he died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 28.
