Allan Huber "Bud" Selig (/ ˈ s iː l ɪ ɡ /; born July 30, 1934) is an American baseball executive who currently serves as the Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball. Previously, he served as the ninth Commissioner of Baseball from 1998 to 2015.
Allan H. Selig grew up wanting to be another Joe DiMaggio – until the curveball derailed his on-field career. But from the owner’s box and ultimately the commissioner’s office, the man known as “Bud” became a lifelong friend to the National Pastime – and left an imprint few can match.
