  6. Gerald Arpino was an American ballet choreographer, a leader of the Joffrey Ballet from its founding in 1956 until 2007. While serving in the U.S. Coast Guard (1945–48), Arpino met dancer Robert Joffrey in Seattle, Washington, and learned dancing in his spare time.

  7. Created for the Joffrey Ballet’s Silver Anniversary, it represents the youth and energy of the dancers it was created on. Light Rain remains the foundation’s most requested work. Gerald Arpino created this ballet to showcase the new young dancers of the company.
