Julius Dassin (December 18, 1911 – March 31, 2008) was an American film and theatre director, producer, writer and actor. A subject of the Hollywood blacklist, he subsequently moved to France, and later Greece, where he continued his career. He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Screen Directors' Guild. [1] [2]

Jules Dassin was an Academy Award-nominated director, screenwriter and actor best known for his films Rififi (1955), Never on Sunday (1960), and Topkapi (1964). He was born Julius Samuel Dassin on 18 December 1911, in Middletown, Connecticut, USA. He was one of eight children of Russian-Jewish immigrants, Samuel Dassin and Berthe Vogel.

7 mag 2024 · Jules Dassin was an American director who was a master of film noir and perhaps best remembered for Rififi (1955), one of the most influential heist movies. Dassin was born in the United States but studied drama in Europe. He joined the Yiddish Theatre in New York in 1936, then wrote radio scripts.
