United Western Recorders was a two-building recording studio complex in Hollywood that was one of the most successful independent recording studios of the 1960s. The complex merged neighboring studios United Recording Corp. on 6050 Sunset Boulevard and Western Studio on 6000 Sunset Boulevard.
Each studio features equally legendary consoles that, for decades, have captured melodies that have sold over a billion records worldwide. Today, United Recording is available for private events, location shoots and select recording sessions.

Twenty musicians were crammed into Studio 3 and many were members of the Wrecking Crew, the gifted and hip collective of LA session musicians who played on hundreds of Top 40 hits in the '60s and '70s.

EastWest Studios is the world’s premier recording facility. Located in the heart of Hollywood, the studios have given rise to some of the most celebrated music of the last sixty years, from Frank Sinatra to The Rolling Stones, and has produced more Grammy-winning albums than any other studio in the world.
Putnam had originally named this studio “United Recording” when he first opened it in 1957. When Allen took over operation in the 1980s, he renamed the complex after that first home studio of his, down by the beach in Santa Monica, calling it “Ocean Way.”
