Merry Andrew is a 1958 American musical film directed and choreographed by Michael Kidd and starring Danny Kaye. The screenplay by Isobel Lennart and I.A.L. Diamond is based on the short story "The Romance of Henry Menafee" by Paul Gallico. Saul Chaplin composed the music and Johnny Mercer wrote the lyrics for the film's score.

Danny Kaye: King of Jesters, pg 183) Merry Andrew was primarily a vehicle for comedian Kaye who was making his first movie in more than two years during a brief interval from his role as ambassador for UNICEF.
In Merry Andrew, Danny Kaye plays Andrew Larabee, a teacher at an exclusive boys' school in England. Andrew comes from a long line of stuffy academics, and his often unorthodox teaching methods and happy-go-lucky attitude are frowned upon by his buttoned-down family as well as his fiance Letitia (Patricia Cutts).
