The Tiger Lily opened on 27 Jul 1919 to a negative review in the 16 Jul 1919 Wid’s Daily, which described the picture as a “shallow and unreal love story.” Public response was considerably better, according to an advertisement in the 7 Feb 1920 Moving Picture World, which claimed that the film was playing to packed houses.
