Trama. Alla vigilia dell'occupazione tedesca dell'Ungheria nel 1944, mentre la presenza nazista e le leggi antisemite aumentano a Budapest, il proprietario di un negozio di riparazioni radio ebreo József manda a casa i due giovani che lavorano per lui, Elek Cohen e Ferenc Jacobson .
Ispirato a una storia vera, il film segue le vite di un leader politico e di un giovane, entrambi travolti dagli orrori della seconda guerra mondiale. Entrambi provengono dall'Ungheria - una nazione alleata alla Germana e inizialmente risparmiata pertanto dalle atrocità orchestrate da Hitler in tutta Europa.
