Hunter Kirk (James Duval) is a Cherokee who suffers from a skin disease. All he wants is to grow up normal like everyone else. When he goes hunting with his father for the first and only time, he accidentally shoots a doe, disgracing his father and giving him the nickname "The Doe Boy".
