Claire (Marlène Jobert) est interprète à l'UNESCO. Un jour, elle croise le regard de Simon (Jean-Michel Folon), un océanographe qui participe à un colloque. C'est le début d'un grand amour. Mais un matin, la jeune femme découvre, en prenant sa douche, une inquiétante boule située dans un sein.
