Country of the Deaf (Russian: Страна глухих, romanized: Strana glukhikh) is a 1998 Russian crime film directed by Valery Todorovsky, loosely based on Renata Litvinova's novel To Own and Belong. The film set in a fictional underworld of deaf-mute people in Moscow.

Moscow 1998. Rita is on the run because her boyfriend can’t pay his mafia gambling debts. Jaja, a deaf nightclub dancer, offers Rita a place to hide. Rita finds herself involved in another kind of underground society – that of the deaf.
The movie shows a story of Rita, a young girl with an angel-like personality, who tries to help her boyfriend to settle his debts with local mafia. Rita encounters Yaya, a deaf girl who lives as an outcast. They team up in their efforts to earn a big sum of money, although this is driven by different motivations.
