Garrett Dutton (born October 3, 1972), better known as G. Love, is an American singer, rapper and musician best known as the frontman for the band G. Love & Special Sauce. Biography [ edit ] Dutton, the son of a banking lawyer, was born in the Society Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia , and began playing guitar at age eight.
G. Love & Special Sauce are creators of their own genre, “The Hip-Hop Blues”. They are known for their unique and laid back, rootsy sound, that encompasses Delta blues, hip hop, rock & roll soul and funk.

G. Love & Special Sauce is an American rock band from Philadelphia. They are known for their unique, "sloppy", and "laid back" sound that encompasses blues, hip hop, rock, and soul. The band features Garrett Dutton, better known as G. Love; Jeffrey Clemens on drums; and Jim Prescott on bass.
After migrating to Boston, he and his band, Special Sauce, broke out in 1994 with their Gold-selling self-titled debut, which earned widespread critical acclaim for its bold vision and adventurous production.
