Albrecht Mayer (born 3 June 1965) is a German classical oboist and conductor. [1] The principal oboist of the Berlin Philharmonic, he is internationally known as a soloist and chamber musician and has made many recordings.
His artistry invites superlatives: people talk of a “divine spark” and how he has elevated the “miraculous oboe” to become an “instrument of seduction”. He began his professional career in 1990 as principal oboist of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
Nach dem Studium bei Gerhard Scheuer, Maurice Bourgue, Georg Meerwein und Ingo Goritzki sowie seiner Mitgliedschaft beim Bayerischen Landesjugendorchester wurde Albrecht Mayer 1990 Solo-Oboist der Bamberger Symphoniker.
