Dave McKenna (May 30, 1930 – October 18, 2008) was an American jazz pianist known primarily as a solo pianist and for his "three-handed" swing style. He was a significant figure in the evolution of jazz piano.

Dave McKenna was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on May 30th, 1930 and passed away on October 18th, 2008 at the age of 78. He was considered one of the world’s greatest pianists, yet many people, even today, have never heard of McKenna.
McKenna, who was 78 when he died yesterday in Pennsylvania from lung cancer, is widely regarded among jazz musicians as one of the best jazz pianists ever to play. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., McKenna moved to the Cape in 1966 to raise his sons Stephen and Douglas.
