Patrick John Hillery (Irish: Pádraig J. Ó hIrghile; 2 May 1923 – 12 April 2008) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as the sixth President of Ireland from December 1976 to December 1990.
Patrick J. Hillery. He was born on 2 May, 1923, in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare and qualified as a medical doctor. He married Mary Beatrice Finnegan in 1955. In 1951 Dr. Hillery was elected to Dáil Éireann for the constituency of Clare and he received his first Government appointment as Minister for Education in 1959.

Patrick J. Hillery (born May 2, 1923, Milltown Malbay, County Clare, Ire.—died April 12, 2008, Dublin) was an Irish politician who served as the sixth president of Ireland (1976–90). He was the youngest person ever to attain that position.
